The Western Mass Republicans Political Action Committee elected Robert Grove of Wilbraham as its new chairman Thursday.

Grove replaced Jay Fleitman of Northampton.

The political action committee, which represents Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties, also elected several other members at its annual meeting. Joseph Tarantino of Northampton and Brenda Fydenkevez of Hadley were elected Hampshire vice chairs.

“We see the influence of Republican voters expanding rapidly in Western Massachusetts,” Grove said in a statement. Throughout the Pioneer Valley, he said, “people are looking to the Republican Party for solutions.”

In Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties, more than 50,000 people cast Republican ballots in the Massachusetts primary March 1, according to data collected by the New York Times.

As of February 2016, there were 468,295 registered Republicans in Massachusetts, according to data compiled by the secretary of state’s office. There were 1.5 million registered Democrats and 2.3 million unenrolled voters, according to the data.
