The Old Courthouse lawn in downtown Northampton turned into a river, of sorts, Saturday as rowers from Northampton Community Rowing held an annual ergathon fundraiser. At top, Chancellor Lee, 15, a resident of the Williston Northampton School from Taipei, Taiwan, left, rows on an ergometer under the instruction of his sister Christie Lee, 16, also of Taipei, Taiwan. Above are Micki Sanderson of Hatfield, left, and Chris West, 17, of Northampton, while at left, Rachael Hanley of Leeds, center, rows while teammate Sally Linowski of Hadley offers encouragement.

Participants raised $10,900 by rowing a cumulative 305,859 meters on ergometers, which are stationary rowing machines. Northampton Community Rowing is accepting donations toward its $16,000 goal through the Valley Gives campaign that runs through May 3.
