Devonte McCall decided to take one more year to sharpen his skills and go after a college basketball scholarship.

The Amherst Regional senior announced Friday on Twitter that he would play at the Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut, next season.

He’ll attend on an athletic scholarship for the 2016-2017 season.

McCall averaged more than 20 points per game in his senior season for the Hurricanes, who lost to Putnam in the Division 1 Western Massachusetts title game for the second consecutive season.

“I just wanna thank everyone who’s been here with me on the mission, who helped me mature not only as a basketball player but as a person all these years I’ve been hoopin and chasin the dream,” McCall wrote. “My family and I thought this would be the best decision for me as I try and chase a scholarship.”

Westminster went 4-16 last season.
