NORTHAMPTON — A chaotic seven-vehicle crash at the intersection of King Street and Bridge Road on Thursday morning jammed up traffic into the afternoon hours.
According to police, eight people were injured in the pile-up. Five ambulances transported those injured to Cooley Dickinson Hospital, where they were treated for “non-incapacitating injuries.”
Police records show the accident occurred around 10:49 a.m. in front of the Pride gasoline station after a vehicle ran a red light, striking the passenger side of another vehicle heading north on King Street. Those vehicles then spun into other vehicles.
The driver who ran the red light was issued a citation for failure to obey traffic signals, police said.
None of the motorists involved in the crash were immediately identified by police.
