AMHERST — Large crowds of college-age people converged at North Amherst locations again during the weekend, but police were able to keep the partygoers in order without making any arrests.
Beginning at 4:05 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to Townehouse Apartments, 50 Meadow St., where hundreds of college students were gathered on grassy areas of the property until 6:55 p.m.
Only two problems developed during the course of the late afternoon, according to Police Detective Greg Wise.
At 5:35 p.m., a private security officer hired by the property management company reported that a man threw a beer bottle at his vehicle and then fled into the crowd. He was not located.
Then, a 19-year-old Arlington man threw a beer can at party-goers at 6:22 p.m. He will be summoned to court on a charge of disorderly conduct, Wise said. While problems were minimal at that party, at 7:14 p.m. Saturday police were called to an altercation outside The Sub restaurant, 33 East Pleasant St.
Rebekah Nicole Flores, 21, of Bayonne, New Jersey, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and assault and battery, while Allison Marie Martin, 21, of Marshfield, was arrested on charges of malicious destruction of property over $250 and disorderly conduct, Wise said.
Earlier, an active fight at 1:42 a.m. Saturday at the Puffton Village bus stop, 1040 North Pleasant St., led to the arrest of Sean C. Young, 25, of Woburn, Wise said.
Young was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer, Wise said. The officer was not injured, he said.
A 22-year-old Waltham man and a 22-year-old Rehoboth man will both be summoned to court on charges of violating the town’s noise bylaw at 12:05 a.m. Sunday after they were slow in clearing guests from a loud party at 121 Meadow St., Wise said.
At 1:54 a.m. Sunday, officers went to 79 Taylor St., where debris in the yard drew officers’ attention, including beer bottles and cans, a broken couch and an electric blanket.
Two 22-year-old Canton women at the residence will be summoned to court on charges of violating the town’s nuisance house bylaw, Wise said. Police also cleared out a party with 100 people at 374 Pelham Road at 12:22 a.m. Saturday and a loud party at Gilreath Manor, 11 Hobart Lane, at 12:52 a.m. Saturday.
