Recently, I have noticed a bizarre yet growing trend. Dog owners bag their dog waste, and leave the plastic bag alongside the road or hiking trail.
Example: While walking in the Meadows this morning, I noticed a bright blue bag filled with dog excrement, carefully knotted and placed underneath the “Wildlife Sanctuary” sign. I wondered to myself, “Is there a Poop Fairy who regularly picks up these bags? Perhaps the nearby nesting bluebirds fly the trash off to the dumpsters at Alternative Recycling?”
Dog excrement is unsanitary and plastic bags are litter. Combined, they are nasty and disgusting. In celebration of the recent Earth Day, please remember to clean up after your pooch and dispose of its droppings in a proper waste container.
