Ava Auclair launched a grand slam to left-center field in the fourth inning as the Gateway Regional softball team beat Pope Francis, 10-8, in Huntington, Monday.

The Gators had taken a 6-5 lead when Auclair homered.

The eighth-grader finished 2 for 3 with five RBIs and two runs for the Gators (2-3).

The Cardinals (3-2) plated two in the first for an early lead. However, the Gators responded, scoring five in the bottom half of the inning.

Audrey Gamble struck out four and walked three in the win.

Hampshire Regional 7, West Springfield 3 — The Raiders used a strong offensive performance from Brie Bergeron to get a home win.

Bergeron hit a solo homer in the fifth, and a two-run double in the sixth.

Danielle McGan and Katy O’Connor both had two hits for Hampshire (6-0).

Alexis Ferris struck out eight in the circle.

Northampton 11, Chicopee 2 — Abby Pelis went 4 for 4 with three RBIs, while Zoe Driscoll-Sbar and Anna Connly each had two hits and two RBIs for the Blue Devils (5-2, 2-0 Valley Wheel).

Anna Kerwood stuck out nine and did not walk anybody in seven innings of work.

Belchertown 9, Longmeadow 6 — Kailee Freitas had a hit and two RBIs in the Orioles first win of the season at home.

Emma LeBlanc and Lauren LeBlanc both had two hits for Belchertown (1-5).

Delaney O’Brien smacked a double for her first career hit, and drove in her first RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Smith Vocational 24, Westfield Tech 11 — The Vikings’ offense exploded in a road win.

Maddisin Atkinson had two hits and scored five runs for Smith Voke (6-2).

Allie Kowalczyk went 4 for 5 with two triples while Avalon Darby contributed with three hits, including two doubles.

Emma Tobin had her first career hit, same with Hannah Potyrala who had a two-run RBI single.

Pioneer Valley 16, Hopkins Academy 1 — Erin Tudryn (RBI) had the lone hit for the Golden Hawks (1-4, 1-1 Franklin).

Central 18, Easthampton 6 — Stephanie Therrien hit a two-run homer and took the loss for the Eagles (4-3).

Olivia Downer was 2 for 3 and scored a run for the Eagles.

Mohawk 7, Smith Academy 0 (5) — Kayla Miatskowski struck out 10 in a road loss for the Falcons.

Charlotte Strickland-Vannah, Madison Zigmont, Ashley Higgins, Emma Hobert (double) and Miastkowski each had one hit for Smith Academy (1-5).

Chicopee Comp 3, Amherst 1 — The Hurricanes (0-8) tied the game in the sixth inning but allowed two runs in the seventh.
