The Hampshire Regional baseball team continued its strong start to the spring with a dramatic, come-from-behind win against Monument Mountain on the road on Tuesday.
The Raiders scored five runs in the fifth inning after falling behind 2-0, then tacked on three more to take the 8-4 win for their third win in four games to open the 2026 slate.
Tom Moore’s three-run home run highlighted Hampshire’s comeback, while Riley Florek and Joe Breguet each belted two hits.
Hampshire pitcher Colby Cabrini threw a complete game with three strikeouts, two walks and eight hits.
Girls lacrosse
Smith Voc 7, Lee 3 — Erin Miller and Kaylin Dumas combined for all seven goals in the Vikings’ third win in a row.
Miller led with four tucks while Dumas recorded a hat trick.
Chloe Avery totaled five saves in goal for Smith Voc.
Amherst 17, Pope Francis 15 — The Hurricanes outlasted the Cardinals to collect their second win of the season.
Ava Carey (six goals, assist) and Kiko Bhowmik (seven goals) had 14 points altogether as Amherst’s top performers. Claire Kennedy also scored twice.
In between the pipes, Eden Polak produced nine saves.
Girls tennis
Amherst 5, Ludlow 0 — A dominant showing on the court led the Hurricanes to their first clean sweep of the season.
Emma Learned-Miller, Mahima Ganesan and Mya Glace won in singles while Micayla Shefftz and Marin Carylon and Audi Vu and Aliva Nazirova picked up victories in doubles action.
East Longmeadow 3, Belchertown 2 — The Orioles dropped a back-and-forth affair against the Spartans at home.
Belchertown won third singles and first doubles, but were beat handily in the three other matches. Emma Kornbluth won 6-1, 6-2 while Allie Randall and Harper Chotkowski took the win 6-4, 6-1.
Late Monday Results
Girls tennis
PVCICS 4, Holyoke 1 — The Dragons flew past the Purple Knights in a non-league match.
Elisa Shinn and Lien Power won in first and second singles for PVCICS, while Abby Ngure claimed Holyoke’s lone match point in third singles.
Baseball
Smith Academy 13, Putnam 3 — The Falcons picked up their first win of the season in dominant fashion.
Harry LaFlamme and Mason Place each popped a pair of hits for Smith Academy, while LaFlamme got the win on the bump, concluding with five strikeouts and three hits allowed in five innings.
Chicopee Comp 8, Northampton 2 — Oliver Yau (seven strikeouts) and Johnny Nields-Duffy (two RBIs) stood out for the Blue Devils in the defeat.
Outdoor track
Holyoke took on SICS at the Robert Sports Complex and had multiple standout performances.
Anthony Armstrong, Sakare Anderson and Edison Vazquez swept the boys 800-meter run, before Sujelyz Peralta, Addison Rodriquez and Selina Alicea took the first three places in the girls javelin.
Addison Rodriguez (shot put) and Mya Yates (long jump) also claimed event wins for the Purple Knights.
Ultimate
The Amherst Gx (Girls Division) Ultimate Varsity team played four games last week and went 3-1 during that stretch.
Its one loss came to the UMass women’s squad (Zoola), 9-3, last Thursday in which Annie Haugsjaahabink had two goals and an assist.
Over the weekend, the group played three squads from across the state at Winchester High School and outscored their opponents 37-5.
Aria Haupt and Will Hudson (six assists each) and Moe Garland Frank, Myla Pelter and Coral Pope (five goals each) were Amherst’s top point-getters in Saturday’s contests.
