Audition-based and meeting every other day for an 85-minute practice period during the school year, Northampton High School’s advanced a cappella group, The Northamptones, is a musically sophisticated ensemble that has performed at the Academy of Music, John M. Greene Hall, the Calvin Theatre, the Iron Horse, Fenway Park, the Massachusetts State House and other stages throughout New England.
Under the direction of Beau Flahive, the 12-member group is set to appear Friday evening at the Edwards Church in Northampton in celebration of the 30th anniversary of MANNA Soup Kitchen, which has been providing free hot meals, three days a week, 52 weeks a year to the greater Northampton community since 1986.
The concert begins at 7 p.m., with a requested free-will donation at the door. The Edwards Church is at 297 Main St. in Northampton.
