Hunter Salem went the distance Wednesday, striking out three to earn the shutout in the Northampton baseball team’s 2-0 win over Central.

The Blue Devils offense came from Pat Grygorcewicz’s solo homer and Tim Horton’s sacrifice fly.

Devin Kellogg also had two hits on the day.

Frontier Regional 5, Pioneer 1 — The Red Hawks got a strong starting performance from Kyle Spencer, who went the distance and struck out three.

Nolan Muzyka provided the bulk of the Frontier offense, collecting two hits and two RBIs. Evan Bourque also pitched in with an RBI double. The Red Hawks remain undefeated on the season.

South Hadley 17, Athol 1 (6 innings) — The Tigers pounded 15 hits in a win on the road.

Teddy Doyle had two hits with three RBIs for South Hadley (6-2).

The Tigers got two RBIs each from Thomas Shea, James Foley and David Pratt.

Adam Pilachowski picked up the win on the mound, going four innings and giving up one run.

Granby 9, Westfield Tech 8 — The Rams almost let a lead get away but Joe Laporte came out in relief to close out Westfield Tech at home.

Laporte picked up the save for Granby (6-2).

Joe Desormier went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Rams, while Tom Rezzani had a double that scored two runs.

Hopkins Academy 8, Mahar 7 — Following an early 7-0 deficit, Hopkins posted a six-run fifth inning and eventually walked off with the win via a Brett Morrison single.

Zach Yahman pitched in with two hits, one of which a double, and an RBI.

John Earle’s long relief efforts kept the Hawks in the game. The sophomore only surrendered two hits and struck out three over 4 innings.

Belchertown 6, Smith Academy 5 — The Orioles walked off with a win after scoring twice in the bottom on the seventh.

Jonathan Ingram and Jack Kamins both had two hits for the Orioles (4-2).

Smith Academy (0-7) got two hits from John Ferrara and Thomas Hammond.

Boys lacrosse

Chicopee Comp 10, Amherst 8 – The Hurricanes suffered a narrow defeat despite a six-goal performance from junior Aidan Bass.

Declan Gray-Mullen and Liam Kelley each had a goal and an assist. Jake Hibbard registered 10 saves for Amherst in the loss.

Northfield Mount Hermon 11, Northampton 9 – Claire Babbott-Bryan led the Blue Devils with five scores on a windy day in Gill.
