Alex Dragon struck out five in seven shutout innings, as the South Hadley baseball team handed Frontier Regional its first loss, 11-0, Friday in South Hadley.
Justin Kleeberg, James Foley and Colin Paleologopoulos drove in two runs each for the Tigers (7-1, 1-0 Hampshire West).
Evan Bourque, Seth Gewanter, Ben Arnold and Baily Powers had hits for Frontier (8-1, 0-1 Hampshire West)
Turners Falls 4, Hopkins Academy 2 (8) — Down a run in the bottom of the seventh, John Earle hit a sacrifice fly to left to send the game to extra innings for the Golden Hawks (5-2).
In the eighth, James Fritz hit a go-ahead, ground-rule double as the Indians (4-5) won in a walk-off.
All nine Hopkins batters got a hit, including two from Earle and Patrick Michalak. Michalak struck out seven in 72 innings of work.
Granby 4, Palmer 0 — Noah Bleakly threw a two-hit shutout and hit an RBI triple in the Rams’ road win.
Mike Sosa added two hits for Granby (8-2), while Tristan Guzik and Joe Desormier also drove in runs.
Westfield 5, Amherst 4 (9) — Jake Balderston had three hits, but the Hurricanes lost in extra innings.
Amherst (2-5, 0-3 Valley) scored all four of its runs in the sixth inning, including a two-RBI single by Seth Bella-Hunter.
Mohawk 1, Smith Academy 0 — Kevin Banas allowed three hits over six innings, but Seth Donovan had a triple and the game’s only RBI to secure a win for Mohawk.
Thomas Hammond and Jack Hession were both 1 for 3 for Smith (0-8).
Southwick 22, Gateway Regional 0 (6) — Joe Jones and Brett Turban each had one hit in the loss for the Gators (1-6).
Belchertown 4, Greenfield 2 — Jack Kamins pitched five innings and struck out three in the Orioles’ win.
Jason French had two hits for Belchertown (6-2).
