Venus Marker, 57, of 504 North King St., was arrested at 3:29 p.m. Saturday on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. An officer saw Marker driving a purple Honda Civic and recognized her as an unlicensed driver.
The sole arrest during Extravaganja on Saturday came after a Springfield man stole over $1,500 in cash and ripped three gold chains from a victim’s neck, police said.
Officers said they were called to the food court area of the event around 4:11 p.m. for reports of a fight breaking out. As they arrived on scene, police said the victim told officers exactly what Elvis Malave, 27, of 34 Mansfield St., had stolen from him — $1,571 in cash, two cell phones, two lighters, a fake rolex watch, three gold chains and one gold pendant — and officers found specifically those items in Malave’s pocket.
Police said Malave acted alongside four other “unidentified individuals” when he threatened to cut the victim with his folding razor knife. Malave was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
