Writing as Northampton business owners since 1992, we at JoiaBeauty are disheartened by losing our good neighbors, Kim and Peter Allen of SIP Café & Coffee Bar, which closed Saturday..

It makes us once again realize that our town is a special place that so many people rely upon, and yet our businesses are often in a state of struggle to survive and actually thrive. We celebrate that the awareness and importance of shopping locally as a necessary practice for all residents has grown over the last decade.

But like exercise or brushing your teeth, it needs to be a regular practice, not just once a month or for the holidays, to truly have an impact.

JoiaBeauty would like to thank everyone who shops in town and keeps their hard‐earned dollars circulating here in the Valley. We are all in this together, we all can help to make our community vibrant and the place we want to live, work and play.

Shopping locally as a regular practice is an investment in the quality of life we treasure.
