Police are investigating a break-in reported by management at the Laundry Club, 6 University Drive, at 9:38 a.m. Monday, in which $500 was stolen from a safe.
Conor P. Doherty, 23, of Woburn, was arrested at 1:32 a.m. Monday on South Pleasant Street near the North Common on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under theย influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger and failure to stay within marked lanes after the vehicle he was driving struck a light pole, police said.
Alexander Jamesย Booth, 22, of Andover, was arrested at 12:09 a.m. Sunday at the intersection ofย Main and Shumway streets on charges of operating a motor vehicleย while under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle with a lights violation.
A purse containing $20 in cash was reported stolen at 4:36 p.m. Saturday from a vehicleย whichย police saidย had itsย front driverโs-side window smashedย while parked at theย Notch Visitors Center, 1500 West St.
Matthew David Burns, 53, of Stafford Springs, Connecticut, was arrested at 2:24 p.m. Saturdayย at the intersection ofย South Pleasant and Amity streets on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (second offense), and reckless operationย of a motor vehicle to endanger. Police saidย the vehicle he was driving struck a second vehicle, causing minor damage and no injuries.
A snapping turtle at risk of being struck by passing vehicles on West Street at 2:14 p.m. Saturday was safely escorted to the side ofย the road.
Tabatha Lippman, 27, of 1 North Main St., Williamsburg, was arrested at 11:09 a.m. Friday on University Drive on a warrant.
Michael D. Brandford Sr., 47, of 15 Summer St. Apt. A, was arrested onย Summer Streetย on a warrantย at 10:58 p.m. Saturday.
Miguel A. Dones, 19, of Springfield, was arrested on warrant charges atย 1:19 a.m. Tuesday after an officer stopped him on Bridge Road for driving with an expired inspection sticker. Dones was wanted on a warrant issued byย Palmer District Court for unlicensed operation, speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt and driving without an inspection sticker. He was also wanted on a warrant issued by Dudley District Court for unlicensed operation, negligent operation, negligent operation on the Massachusetts Turnpike, speeding on the Massachusetts Turnpike and violating Massachusetts Turnpikeย traffic lanes, police said.
Patrick J. Vigilante, 58, of 98 King St., Apt. 5, wasย arrestedย at 9:49 a.m. Monday on a warrant issued by Holyoke District Court. Officers found Vigilante at the VA Medical Center, 421 Northย Main St., in Leeds.
An 84-year-old man, whose name was not immediately released by police, was hit by a car at about 8 p.m. Sundayย as he attempted to cross in a crosswalk in the 150 block of Pine Street in Florence. Police said the man suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries and taken to an area hospital where he is expected to recover.
The driver, whose identity was also not immediately released,ย was cited for a crosswalk violation and is not expected to face criminal charges, police said.ย
