DEERFIELD — A Belchertown man is accused of stealing equipment from Frontier Regional School while working as a custodian.
Joshua A. Warren, 26, of 594 George Hannum Road, faces one count of vandalized property, two counts of larceny over $250, one count of larceny under $250, and two counts of larceny from a building. He pleaded innocent to all charges Friday and is due for a pretrial conference on June 9.
According to court documents, items started to be reported missing from the school around the time Warren started working last spring, and stopped once Warren was fired.
An iPad Air, a MacBook external hard drive, an adapter, a Smart Board remote control, a projector, a box of beakers, wireless speakers, several calculators and $300 in cash were reported missing between roughly Sept. 29, 2015, and March 8, 2016.
When contacted by The Recorder, Warren denied stealing anything and said he plans to sue the school district “for false charges” and lost wages, because he was also fired from a cleaning job at the Amherst Police Department as a result of his termination from Frontier.
“They don’t know what they’re talking about,” he said. “There is no proof of anything. That’s the funniest part about it.”
According to court documents, Scott Dredge, the assistant principal at Frontier told Deerfield Police that Warren is the only common denominator in the thefts.
