POLICE REACCREDITED: Fifteen years ago, Amherst Police became just the second department in Massachusetts to be accredited.
On Thursday, Police Chief Scott Livingstone learned that the department maintained its status, passing 257 mandatory standards and exceeding required optional standards, according to the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission.
The accreditation came after peer review Feb. 2 to 4 in which policies, procedures, operations, staffing, equipment and facility maintenance were examined.
Reaccreditations previously occurred in 2004, 2007, 2011 and 2013.
