I’m writing in response to letter writers in the May 4 Gazette who said that dogs at the Smith Farm Fields should be leashed.An area that is not fenced where dogs can run and play unleashed is not a dog park. The reason Northampton is having this problem is just that. If Northampton or Hadley or Amherst had a real dog park, these problems would not occur.
See Granby and Orange. They both have fenced dog parks. Why don’t we have one closer to home? Can we start one? Will someone donate some land?
