Aliya Bartmon had a memorable game for the Amherst Regional softball team Tuesday night in Amherst.
Bartmon recorded her 400th career strikeout in a 5-4 win over Tantasqua. It was the Hurricanes’ first win of the season.
The senior had 10 strikeouts in the victory, one day removed from fanning 18 in a losing effort to Northampton.
Against Tantasqua, Bartmon had a standup RBI triple that scored two runs in a four-run fifth inning as Amherst (1-12) took the lead.
Bartmon has nine games with double-digit strikeouts this season, including two games where she struck out 17.
Hampshire Regional 12, Belchertown 0 (5) — Alexis Ferris threw her fourth no-hitter of the season, striking out 12 for the Raiders (13-0).
One hitter reached against Ferris on an error.
Katy O’Connor had a three-run homer and a two-run double in the first inning for Hampshire.
Ferris picked up two hits with an RBI for the Raiders.
Kailee Freitas gave up 10 runs and had a strikeout for the Orioles (2-10).
Easthampton 7, Hopkins Academy 5 — The Eagles scored all seven runs in the first three innings and then held off the Golden Hawks’ comeback in Hadley.
Kady Newman had two hits and two RBIs for Easthampton (6-1), while Nikki Lewandowski and Sierra Raskewitz each went 3 for 4.
Kelsea Cristoforo had a hit and drove in two runs for Hopkins (1-9), while Gretta Kurtz and Maegan Quinlan each had two hits and an RBI.
Smith Vocational 17, Sci-Tech 5 (5) — The Vikings clinched a postseason berth with plenty of time to spare as they routed the Cybercats in a mercy-rule shortened five inning game.
Ally Kowalczyk highlighted the 10-hit attack with a first-inning grand slam. She had two hits, two runs and five RBIs.
Sam VonHaugg had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run for Smith (10-2, 9-1 Tri-County).
Monson 13, Gateway 0 (5) — The Gators had two base-runners, as Joanna Arkoette got plunked and Audrey Gamble drew a walk in a road loss.
Greenfield 12, Frontier Regional 0 (5) — The Red Hawks couldn’t muster a hit against Green Wave pitcher Olivia Joy and fell in a mercy-rule shortened five-inning game.
Pope Francis 7, McCann Tech 5 — Amelia Haradon went 2 for 4 with two RBIs in a road win for the Cardinals.
Alexa Keough struck out nine over seven innings, giving three earned runs. Keough did some damage at the plate with three hits.
Christine Winberg added three hits for Pope Francis (7-5, 4-2 Bi County West).
Amherst Regional 12, Granby 7 — The Hurricanes (3-10) bounced back from a one-goal loss to the Rams (6-4) in April to post the win at home.
Meghan Sharick (two assists) scored six of her seven goals in the first half as Amherst led 8-2 at the break.
Malia MacDonald (two assists) added three goals, while Laney Morse and Gianna Catalano each had one.
Savannah Robinson made three saves in the win.
Hailey O’Connor (assist) and Kaeleigh Croteau each scored twice, while Jasmine Jones, Emily Whitacre (assist) and Julia Frappier each had one goal.
Kate Sarnacki had three assists and Mya Fillion had three saves in defeat.
Sharick face guarded Sarnacki, who was held scoreless one day after netting 10 goals in a win over Monson. Sarnacki had five goals against Amherst in a 10-9 win on April 28.
Amherst’s Madison Rodriguez added double teams on Sarnacki Tuesday.
Northampton 19, Monson 9 — The Blue Devils led throughout, and came away with a road win behind Ursa Heidinger’s four goals and three assists.
Hannah Sledzieski, Abby Baldwin and Megan McCarthy all had three goals for Hamp (9-2).
Bridget Harrington made five saves.
