The UMass softball team carried its strong finish to the regular season into the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Tara Klee’s three-run home run in the first inning set the tone for the No. 3-seeded Minutewomen who romped to a 9-0 win over host George Washington, the No. 6 seed in a mercy-rule shortened five-inning game.

UMass (25-22) will face No. 2 seed Dayton, Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Meg Colleran gave up a leadoff single in the second for George Washington’s hit. SHe struck out two and didn’t walk a batter to improve to 21-15.

Jena Cozza (three runs, RBI) and Erin Stacevicz (two runs) each had two hits for UMass.
