A 28-year-old Hampden man will be summoned to court on charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger, speeding and failure to stay within marked lanes after the vehicle he was driving on West Street struck a mailbox and tree at 4:02 a.m. Friday, police said.The man requested an Amherst Fire Department ambulance and was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton for treatment. A passenger in his vehicle declined treatment.
A 17-year-old Amherst boy was arrested at 2:47 p.m. Thursday in an area between War Memorial Pool and Amherst Regional High School, 21 Mattoon St., on charges of possession of a Class B drug (Adderall), cultivation with intent to distribute a Class D drug (marijuana), and committing a drug violation near a school and town park.
