2015-16 season highlights: Senior placed first in the 300-meter dash in 42.16 seconds and was first in the long jump at 17 feet, 1½ inches at the PVIAC championship meet. Finished first at the state Division 4 meet with a mark of 17-1 in the long jump. Was ninth in the long jump (17-0) at All-States.
Loomis on winning Division 4 State Meet long jump: “Going into the meet I knew that I was capable of jumping well, and I had been practicing long jump all week so I was shooting for the win. It felt great to win and I was happy with how I jumped.”
Loomis on competing at All-States: “It is always exciting to compete at All-States. The competition is high there, so it is a good meet to push yourself to do well. Sometimes it can get a little overwhelming, so you have to learn how to tune everything out and treat it as any other meet.”
Coach Ryan Davis on Loomis’ work ethic: “Sierra is a competitor. She comes to practice every day knowing that the hard work she puts in will pay off in big meets. From a coaches perspective, a lot of her hard work comes from her drive to be the best captain that she can be. She is always ready and willing to push the younger members of the team to be the best that they can be. A lot of that comes from her leading by example. We hit the track hard multiple times a week and Sierra is never one to shy away from a workout. That type of attitude is contagious.”
