A sophomore sent the Amherst Regional girls lacrosse seniors off right Monday on senior night.

Jane O’Connell scored her third goal of the game with 1 minute, 16 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Hurricanes a 15-14 win over Belchertown in Amherst..

Nicole Gerena tied the game for Amherst (4-12, 1-7 Valley).

Meghan Sharick led the Hurricanes with six goals, while Malia MacDonald scored four times.

Savannah Robinson made seven saves in the Amherst net.

Audrey Duhaime led Belchertown (6-9, 2-5 Valley) with six goals, while Emma Jopson scored three times.

Jordan Veiss stopped four shots for the Orioles.

Minnechaug 12, Northampton 8 — Megan McCarthy scored five goals, but the Blue Devils fell at home.

Abby Baldwin, Ursa Heidinger and Sophie Melcher also scored for Northampton (10-4, 2-4 Valley Wheel).

Bridget Harrington made seven saves.

Baseball

Northampton 2, West Springfield 1 — The Blue Devils (11-3, 6-2 Valley Wheel) grabbed sole possession of second place in the Valley Wheel with the victory at home.

They play first place Holyoke on Thursday.

Hunter Salem had a complete game for Northampton and provided the game-winning RBI single in the sixth inning.

Salem gave up one run, two hits and struck out five on 90 pitches.

Will O’Connor had a RBI on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Pope Francis 12, Amherst 0 — Jake Balderston doubled and Max Hopley had two hits but the Hurricanes lost on the road.

Hopley stole a base for Amherst (2-10, 0-6 Valley League).

Cam Griffin had two hits and two RBIs for Pope Francis (13-2, 8-0 Valley League).

Granby 12, Dean Tech 0 — Joe LaPorte faced two batters over the minimum and struck out 10 in a home shutout.

“He was in command the whole time,” Granby coach Jim Woods said.

Tom Rezzani had three hits and three RBIs for Granby (12-2), while Matt Bleakley drove in two runs on three hits and E.J. Wiley also had three hits.

Joe Desormier picked up two RBIs.

Lenox 13, Gateway 3 — Tom Ruffo had two hits, while Brett Turban hit a triple for the Gators (4-10).

Smith Academy 5, Mohawk 2 — Kevin Banas hit a triple and drove in two RBIs in a home win.

Jack Hession and Liam Pitrat also drove in runs.

Jon Ferrara struck out four to pick up the win for the Falcons (4-10, 4-2 Hampshire East).

Softball

McCann Tech 19, Gateway 1 (5) — Dayna Brittland brought Gabby Dame home with a two-out single in the fourth inning for the Gators (3-11, 1-5 Bi-County West).

Southwick 12, Granby 1 — Mallory Beauregard scored the Rams’ only run on a passed ball in the first inning after doubling.

Kate Sullivan picked up the other hit for Granby (8-7, 0-6 Bi-County East) in the fourth.

Easthampton 10, Sabis 1 — Sierra Raskevitz homered and Michelle McDermott hit a triple to go along with four RBIs in a home win.

Stephanie Therrien struck out 10 to earn the win in the circle for Easthampton (9-6, 8-1 Bi-County West).

Minnechaug 9, Northampton 0 — Zoe Driscoll-Sbar and Abby Pelis singled in a road loss for the Blue Devils (9-6).

Marissa Badorini only gave up four hits in the circle, but walked nine.

Putnam 25, Smith Voke 16 — Avalon Darby hit a solo homer and went 3 for 5 with two RBIs in a losing effort at home.

Allie Kowalczyk had a productive day at the plate, going 4 for 5 with four RBIs for the Vikings (10-4, 9-2 Tri County).

Greenfield 4, South Hadley 3 — Nicole Conner and Emilee Ottomaniello drove in runs in a road loss for the Tigers (3-11).

Chicopee Comp 12, Belchertown 1 — Christian Assimus made 13 saves for the Orioles at home.

Grant Irving scored, and Jack Medina had an assist for Belchertown (5-8, 4-4 Suburban).

Westfield 18, South Hadley 10 — Grifin Fitzell had four goals and Pat Crotty had three in a road loss.

Marcus Larrier and Jason Fernandes also scored, and Corey Calkins made seven saves for South Hadley (5-10, 1-5 Valley Wheel).
