SAFETY SEATS: A free car seat safety check will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday near the University of Massachusetts Police Department and Amherst Fire Department stations at 585 East Pleasant St.
Open to all, the safety check will be conducted by child car seat technicians as part of the Safe Kids initiative and is funded by the Highway Safety Division of the state Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
