SEAT-BELT CAMPAIGN: The Amherst Police Department is joining the “Click It or Ticket” campaign encouraging use of seat belts by drivers and passengers.
The campaign is funded by a federal grant administered by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security division of highway safety.
“Officers will be out issuing citations to anyone traveling without a buckled seat belt or transporting unrestrained children,” Police Chief Scott Livingstone said in a statement.
In fiscal year 2014, the department issued 80 citations to drivers and passengers for failure to wear seat belts.
