Nathan Masteralexis threw a one-hitter to give the Amherst Regional baseball team a 1-0 win over Minnechaug on Friday in Amherst.
He struck out five and walked one, adding a single to help his own cause.
Max Hopley had the game-winning RBI in the fourth inning, and Dylan Donoghue scored the winning run.
Smith Vocational 3, Franklin Tech 1 — Kevin Wackerbarth struck out six and worked around six hits and a walk as the Vikings edged the Eagles in Montague.
Matt Hewes had a hit, a walk and scored twice for Smith (7-9, 6-7 Tri-County).
Putnam 5, Gateway Regional 3 — The Beavers scored three times in the top of the first and the Gators could never climb out of the hole.
Tom Ruffo led Gateway (4-11, 1-4 Bi-County North) with two hits and two runs scored.
Belchertown 7, Athol 1 — Jackson Dziel had three hits, a run and drove in three runs as the Orioles rolled on the road.
Granby 4, St. Mary 1 — Matt Bleakley shined on the mound and at the plate as the Rams beat the Saints at home.
The senior scattered five hits and three walks while striking out seven in the complete-game win. He helped himself with a single, a triple two runs and an RBI.
Softball
Easthampton 12, Gateway Regional 0 (5) — Stephanie Therrien struck out 12 and walked six, but the senior threw her first career no-hitter to pace the Eagles (11-6) in the mercy-rule shortened win at home.
Nicole Lewandowski and Sierra Raskevitz each had two hits, two runs and two RBIs for Easthampton.
Chelsea Edinger walked twice for the Gators (3-14).
Pope Francis 19, Sabis 0 (5) — The Cardinals peppered the Bulldogs with 15 hits and earned a spot in the postseason with the mercy-rule shortened win.
Alex Keough earned the win allowing four hits and a walk while striking out one. She helped herself with five hits, including two triples, an RBI and four runs scored.
Krista Jasak and Sydney Brosseau (three runs) each added two hits and drove in four runs. Mo Brown had three hits, two runs and three RBIs.
Mahar 11, Belchertown 2 — The Senators scored seven times in the seventh inning to pull away at Belchertown.
Emma Leblanc had a hit and a run for the Orioles (2-14).
Smith Vocational 17, Commerce 5 (5) — Stephanie Start hit a home run and drove in five runs to go along with 13 strikeouts in the circle in a home win.
Granby 11, Belchertown 2 — Sawyer Mahan (assist) scored four goals, while Nick Roberts (assist) had three and Ryan Bachand two as the Rams (7-8, 5-4 Suburban) won at home.
Tre Demers (two assists) and Collin Stearns each had one goal, while Luc Chauvin and Corey Hinkley had one assist each.
Nick Albers made 18 saves in the win.
Grant Irving scored twice for the Orioles (6-9, 5-5), while Adam Wordsworth and Jaxon Royal each had one assist. Christian Assimus made 11 saves.
Westfield 12, Belchertown 9 — The Orioles led 5-4 at halftime but were overmatched after intermission and lost at home.
Audrey Duhaime led Belchertown with five goals. Emma Jopson added three and Kate Bowers had four assists, including the 100th of her career for the Orioles (6-11, 2-6 Valley League).
Tantasqua 17, South Hadley 9 — Marley Medina (three assists), Briana Couture and Emma Slysz each scored twice for the Tigers (3-14), who fell in Sturbridge.
