A 20-year-old Amherst man will be summoned to court on charges of texting while driving, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration following a traffic stop on Lincoln Avenue at 6:43 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
A 21-year-old Tyngsborough man will be summoned to court on a charge of criminal harassment as part of a continuing investigation that led to the charge being filed at 12:40 p.m. Monday, police said.
Police removed three empty tents in which homeless people had been living that were set up on town conservation land on Summer Street at 8:58 a.m. Monday. Aย homeless man and woman living in another tent, pitched in the woods north of Pufferโs Pond, were advised to find another place to stay.
Leslie E. Nelson, 53, 35 Fruit St., Apt. A24, was arrested 2:23 p.m.ย Tuesday on a charge of aggravated assault and battery after police responded to Cahill Apartments, where she lives, and found her engaged in a fight on the ground with a pregnant woman. Police said Nelson punched the other woman in the face and was tussling on the ground with her until authorities broke up the fight.
Sydena Bond, 53, 43 West St., was arrested on charges of trespassing and disturbing the peace 10:51 a.m. Mondayย when Hampshire County sheriffโsย deputies served her with an eviction notice. Deputies said she became irate and refused to leave the residence.
Melinda J. Maziarz, 53, of Hadley, was arrested at about 7:54 a.m. near Hotel Northampton, 36 King St.,ย following a traffic stop because there was no inspection sticker on her vehicle. Police said she was charged with failure to wear a seat belt, not having an inspection sticker and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
