With postseason play looming, Anna Kerwood gave the Northampton softball team a reason to be confident.

The sophomore fired her first career no-hitter and came a game-opening error away from a perfect game as the Blue Devils beat Belchertown, 3-0, Friday.

Kerwood struck out seven and didn’t walk anyone.

Allie Vanasse, Hamp’s lone senior, was honored before the game and drew two walks.

Anna Connly had two hits and an RBI for the Blue Devils (12-8), while Zoe Driscoll-Sbar had a hit and scored twice.

Hampshire Regional 11, South Hadley 0 — The Tigers won’t be disappointed to see Alexis Ferris graduate. The Raider senior struck out a season-high 18 before being lifted for a curtain call with one out left in the seventh.

She allowed four hits and a walk in the shutout for Hampshire (18-2, 8-0 Suburban). She helped herself with two hits and three runs scored.

Katy O’Conner had three hits, including two home runs. She scored three times and drove in five.

Ari Williams and Karley Rogers each had a hit in their final game for South Hadley (6-14, 2-6).

Smith Vocational 26, Renaissance 14 (6) — Mia Rybinski capped her senior day with a two-run single to instigated the mercy rule for the Vikings (13-7, 12-4 Tri-County).

Maddie Atkinson went 4 for 4 and drove in four runs, while Allie Kowalczyk had three hits and scored three times.

Baseball

Hampshire Regional 15, Granby 3 — When Brandon Weyant started the game, it wasn’t senior day. But when he finished, it was.

The senior pitched 1 innings before rain suspended the game earlier this month.

After being honored with Austin Wing (walk, run scored) before the game Friday, he completed the win for the Raiders. Weyant struck out six and walked one in the win.

Everett Warner had three hits and drove in two for Hampshire (10-8), while Matt York (hit, two walks) had three runs and two RBIs and Steve Moussette (two hits) two runs and three RBIs.

Noah Bleakley’s two-run home run to left-center in the sixth inning was the highlight for Granby (15-5).

Northampton 8, Ludlow 0 — Tim Horton (two runs) and Hunter Salem (RBI) each had two of the Blue Devils’ eight hits as Northampton (13-6, 8-4 Valley Wheel) rolled at home.

Devin Kellogg added a double and drove in two runs. Zac Brittain earned the win allowing two hits and no walks, while striking out two in five innings.

Pioneer Regional 2, Smith Vocational 0 — Brandon Wendolowski and Matt Hewes each had one of the Vikings’ two hits as they fell at home.

Smith Academy 9, Athol 3 — The Falcons clinched a share of the Hampshire West title with the win.

Smith Academy (8-10, 8-2 Hampshire West) started the season 0-9.

Jack Hession had a two-run double in the Falcons’ eight-run fourth inning.

Thomas Hammond went 4 for 4 with an RBI for Smith Academy.

Pope Francis 16, Amherst 3 — The Cardinals led 10-2 after three and the Hurricanes could never catch up.

Max Hopley had two hits and scored a run for the Hurricanes (5-13, 3-9 Valley League).
