Amherst

Kaya H. Daley, a 2011 Amherst Regional High School graduate, is working alongside the U.S. Navy with Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo in Sasebo, Japan, as a clinical counselor.

Ashfield

Jillian Soucie received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Eastern Connecticut State University Willimantic, Connecticut, on May 17.

Belchertown

Jouli Mikhail Gobrial graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in communication science and disorders from Nazareth College in Rochester, New York, on May 8.

Audrey Lavigne has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College in Paul Smith’s, New York. Lavigne is majoring in fisheries and wildlife sciences.

Deerfield

Michael Kennedy, son of JoEllen Miner of Deerfield and Michael Kennedy of Southwick, has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Easthampton

Haley Nicol, daughter of Bruce and Laurie Nicol, has graduated with her master’s degree in business administration with a specialization in international business from Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island.

She has also commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army, branch detailed to the Chemical Corps for the first three years of her service followed by a transition to military intelligence.

She will be heading to Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri in January where she will complete the Chemical Basic Officer Leadership Course and will then be stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas, where she is assigned to the 1st Calvary Division and will be working in an aviation combat unit.

Florence

Lauren Goodman, daughter of Dr. Robert and Amy Goodman, graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and anthropology with minors in biology and abnormal psychology.

Goodman will intern this summer at the University of Tennessee Forensic Anthropology Research Center studying human decomposition. She will then intern at the University of Miami Graduate School Chemistry lab.

Goodman is a graduate of the Williston Northampton School.

Hadley

Emily Eagan was named to spring semester dean’s list at Northeastern University in Boston. She is majoring in music and is a member of the university honors program.

Leverett

Gabriel Kaufman has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio.

Northampton

Zachary Charren-Diehl graduated with a degree in media and communication and philosophy at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pennsylvania. He is the son of Deborah Charren and Timothy Diehl. He is a graduate of Williston Northampton School.

Plainfield

Caleb Alvord, son of David and Linda Alvord, graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Westfield State University May 21. He was a double major in environmental science and regional planning. He is a graduate of Mohawk Trail Regional High School.

Southampton

Jenya Kushin received the Western Mass Counselors Association Scholarship at a recent ceremony held at the Garden House at Look Park in Florence. Kushin will receive a master’s degree from the school counseling program at Westfield State University, and plans to continue her education and pursue a career as a school counselor.

Connecticut College

The following students have won outstanding student achievement awards at the college in New London, Connecticut.

Mei Belleyang Reffsin, from Amherst, class of 2017, was awarded the Marguerite Hanson Art Grant, given to a sophomore or junior art major whose work shows promise

Grace Mari Hall, from Belchertown, class of 2016, received the Excellence in Research Award, given to a sociology student who has achieved excellence in the research process, the Public Sociology Award, given to a sociology student who has achieved excellence in the application of sociology for the betterment of society, and the Sociology Department Prize, given to a graduating senior who has achieved excellence in the major and who, as a result, is inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society

Sarah Rose Gruszecki, of Florence, class of 2018, received The Foundations of Education Award, given to a student who demonstrates a critical understanding of the foundations.

 Leela Chaya Riesz, of Florence, class of 2016, received the Claire Garber Goodman ’54 Award, granted to honor a senior anthropology major who has achieved academic distinction.
