NORTHAMPTON — One Bar and Grill, a bar and music venue operated at 1 Pearl St. since August 2014, has not shown signs of life since last week.

The establishment appeared closed over the weekend. There were no signs on its doors nor windows alerting patrons to any changes as of Tuesday evening, lights were off, barstools were stacked and no shows or events were posted for coming weeks.

Bar owner and manager Lauren Pomponio confirmed last week that “changes” are in the works, but declined to comment further.

Comedian David Liebe Hart had a show May 24 at the bar. Of the four other shows scheduled for the rest of that week, two were relocated and two were canceled.

The website for One Bar and Grill states that it is open seven days a week.

Building owner Anthony Gleason declined to detail the status of the business. “I think that it’s a private situation and it’s ongoing,” Gleason told the Gazette last month when asked about the future of One Bar and Grill.

Matt Gibbs, Pomponio’s ex-boyfriend and former bar manager, confirmed he retains 50 percent ownership of the bar, despite efforts on behalf of Pomponio and business partner Tim Barnes, owner of  Niteowl Tattoo on Pleasant Street, to buy him out earlier this year.

Gibbs declined further comment, adding that since he no longer runs the bar it’s not his place to comment on happenings there.

“As of right now I think she just closed down for vacation weekend,” he said Saturday.

Patrons outside the bar on May 24 spoke mournfully about it being the bar’s “last night.”
