Whether you
remember when “Casablanca” opened in movie houses in 1942, or you’ve never even heard of Hollywood’s most-heartbreaking trio of Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) and Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), this classic film is always worth a viewing.
It’s Morocco during the early days of World War II, and Czech resistance leader Laszlo has blown into town (Casablanca) hoping bar owner Rick will help him escape, along with his wife, Ilsa. But it seems Rick and Ilsa have a history (“We’ll always have Paris”) and things get messy. Watch the Oscar-winning movie (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenwriting) the way it was meant to be seen – on the “big screen” – Sunday at 2 p.m. at Amherst Cinema, 28 Amity St. It repeats Tuesday, also at 7 p.m. www.amherstcinema.org
