Amherst

Dylon Xavier Sleis, 22, of 32B Dickinson Hill Road, Whately, was arrested at 9:32 p.m. Monday on Boltwood Walk on charges of resisting arrest and possession of an open container of alcohol.

Yeshaq A. Warren, 31, of 110 Sand Hill Road, was arrested at 5:41 p.m. Monday outside the Unitarian Meetinghouse, 121 North Pleasant St., on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after he allegedly struck a man in the neck with a Snapple bottle, police said.

A video tripod and a microphone were reported stolen at 2:45 p.m. Monday from a vehicle parked in a Main Street parking lot.

Austin Richard Audette, 20, of Plainville, was arrested at 2:56 a.m. Sunday on Belchertown Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger, failure to stay within marked lanes and speeding.

Three men were arrested at 80 West St. at 2:06 a.m. Sunday after police responded to a loud party at their home. Reed P. Gonsowski, 20, of North Bellmore, New York, and Steven A. McGrath and Jarred J. Penney both 20 and of Stoneham, were all arrested on charges of violating the town’s noise bylaw.

William Wadsworth Oldershaw, 29, of 40 Lathrop St., South Hadley, was arrested a 7:29 p.m. Saturday at Ernie’s Towing, 40 Montague Road, on a charge of trespassing after he jumped a fence, likely in an attempt to get his vehicle, police said.

An African gray parrot that flew away from the Amherst Farmers Market at 10:31 a.m. Saturday was found safe and turned in at the police station a short time later.

Adam C. Garand, 45, of 321 North Main St., South Hadley, was arrested at 1:42 a.m. Saturday on South Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger and speeding.

Police responded to Flat Hills Road for a report of numerous vehicles parked along the street creating problems for passing motorists at 5:18 p.m. Friday. The resident told police he was holding a photo shoot for the Amherst Regional High School prom and the work would be done by 6 p.m.

Easthampton

Police said that the owner of the property at 531 East St. is violating a city ordinance because he has two unregistered cars parked in his yard. Police issued the man a notice at 2:05 p.m. Monday warning him that he has 10 days to remove the cars from his property.

A Pomeroy Street resident reported at 11:38 a.m. Monday that a speaker had been stolen from his car sometime over the last four days. Police have no suspects.

Staff from the Roy Chiropractic office on Main Street reported at 6:07 p.m. Friday that someone had illegally dumped iron handrails, a mailbox and a wooden futon frame next to the trash container behind the building. Police have no suspects.

Lisa G. Heckley, 53, of 5 Lyman St., was arrested after a motor vehicle stop on Union Street on charges of operating while under the influence of alcohol and possessing an open container of alcohol at 2:47 p.m. Saturday.

Michael J. Sullivan Jr., 42, of 18 Oakdale Place, was arrested at 6:07 p.m. Friday after a traffic stop at the intersection of Emerald Place and Oakdale Place on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.

A 75-year-old Paradise Drive resident reported to police at 6:43 p.m. June 1  that she believes her neighbor damaged her motor vehicle. The two are engaged in an ongoing spat. Police said the woman alleged that various scratches, a missing hubcab and a “gouged-out” registration sticker on her car as the work of her spiteful neighbor. The neighbor was not charged with any crime.

Northampton

Bolivar Rene Zabala III, 27, of West Springfield, was arrested about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of King and Main streets on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor and failing to stop at a red light. An officer patrolling on Main Street reported observing Zabala, driving a gray Chevy Malibu, make a U-turn and then run a red light. The officer reported smelling the odor of alcohol upon approaching the car and noted Zabala’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot, police said. Zabala told the officer he had come from a downtown pub but denied consuming alcohol. Zabala also failed field sobriety tests, police said. 

Wesley R. Stimpson, 36, of 38 Hawley Street, Apt. D, was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Monday on a charge of shoplifting after an employee at the CVS Pharmacy, 90 Main St., told police Stimpson stuffed toiletries into a duffle bag and left the store. Stimpson was apprehended nearby at a Main Street bus stop. Police said he made off with about $96 worth of goods from the shampoo, deodorant, razors and detergent sections of CVS. Carrying a black duffel bag, he loaded the items into a red basket provided by the store, then ducked out of range of security cameras. When he returned in view of the security cameras, the basket was empty, and he left the store with the bag, police said. Authorities identified him from security camera footage.

A staff member in the offices at College Church, 58 Pomeroy Terrace, reported to police about 8:50 p.m. Sunday there was an unknown person in the building using the shower. Police responded and discovered Matthew L. Aiken, 33, in the shower area. Aiken put his hands up upon their arrival, stating “I’m just taking a shower, man,” police said. He also admitted to being in the building earlier that day, police said. Aiken was charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of trespassing and one count of vandalizing property. Additionally, he faces a charge of receiving stolen property after a bicycle, previously reported stolen, was discovered in his possession, police said.

Police responded about 4:55 p.m. Sunday to Wal-Mart, 180 N. King St., to a report of a man concealing fishing gear in his shorts and coat and then attempting to run away from the store. Police arrested David M. Bean, 29, of Florence, on a charge of shoplifting after a brief foot chase. Police said all of the merchandise was valued at about $40.
