READY, SET, PLAY
Ever wonder what kids in old Northampton did before apps? (Besides chopping wood, that is, and mucking out stalls.) Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Historic Northampton offers an opening reception for its new exhibit on historic toys. Look for demos by the playful kids of the A2Z Science & Learning store’s yo-yo team, as well as tables with arts-and-crafts projects. Then on Sunday at 2 p.m., there will be a panel discussion on how toys in use today affect the emergence of creativity in the young.
ANOTHER GOOD BET
Give Richard D. Little 45 minutes and he’ll give you the world — 600 million years of it, anyway. Friday at 7 p.m., The GCC professor emeritus presents “Geology of Goshen” at the town hall, 42 Main St. Ask him why one type of the geological oddity known as the “armored mud ball” carries his name.
