The Amherst Mickey Mantle team edged Northampton, 4-3, Monday in Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League action at Northampton High School.
Northampton had runners on second and third with two outs in the seventh when Brett Evans closed the door and earned the save for Amherst.
Amherst got out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the second inning and one more in the third.
Northampton took advantage of two errors in the bottom of the seventh to pull within 4-3.
Luke Leonard, J.B. Mills and Levi Constant each had two hits for Amherst.
Constant allowed six hits and two earned run over 6 innings to earn the win.
Ryan Long had two hits for Northampton.
