NORTHAMPTON — Voters have until noon July 6 to apply for absentee ballots in the special preliminary election that will narrow the four-candidate race for Jesse Adams’ vacated at-large City Council seat to two.
Andrew Smith, Marlene A. Morin, Blue M. Duval and Ryan R. O’Donnell are on the ballot for the July 7 special election. The top two vote-getters will progress to the final election Aug. 4.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and absentee ballots are available for voters who will be out of town during those hours. People with a physical disability or religious belief prohibiting them from getting to the polls are also eligible.
Voters may apply at the city clerk’s office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Voters will receive their absentee ballots by mail, and must either return them by mail or hand deliver them in person or through a relative by July 7.
