The Audubon Society has reported a variety of recent bird sightings in western Massachusetts.

Three red crossbills were found on Mount Greylock.

Two semipamated plovers were seen on the Longmeadow Sandbar.

Evening grosbeaks were reported in Charlemont, New Marlborough and Belchertown.

A lesser scaup continues at the southern end of the Quabbin Reservoir, and an Acadian flycatcher continues in Granville.

Grasshopper sparrows were seen at Westover Air Reserve Base and in the towns of Montague and Greenfield.

An olive-sided flycatcher was found in Stockbridge.

A marsh wren continues in Ludlow and several continue in Lenox.

Uncommon residents or migrants reported included common merganser, common loon, double-crested cormorant, American bittern, green heron, black vulture, Virginia rail, whip-poor-will, yellow-billed cuckoo and American kestrel.

Plus songbirds, including cliff swallow, red-breasted nuthatch, winter wren, golden-crowned kinglet, Swainsonโ€™s thrush, northern parula, blackpoll warbler, Canada warbler, vesper sparrow and purple finch.
