NORTHAMPTON — As the special election approaches, the four candidates running for a vacant at-large City Council seat will field questions at a forum Monday.

The event is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. at the Northampton Senior Center at 67 Conz St. 

The candidates vying for the at-large seat vacated by Jesse Adams are Blue Duval, Marlene Morin, Ryan O’Donnell and Andrew B. Smith. A preliminary election July 7 will narrow the field to two candidates who will advance to a final election Aug. 4.

At Monday’s forum, the candidates will give opening and closing statements and answer questions prepared by sponsors the have a chance to give an opening statement and answer questions prepared by sponsors the Daily Hampshire Gazette and Northampton Area League of Women Voters, as well as the public. Osa Flory, a spokeswoman for the League, said audience members will have an opportunity to submit written questions during the forum for candidates to answer. 

Stanley Moulton, the night managing editor at the Gazette, will moderate the forum.   

Other sponsors are the Leeds Civic Association, Ward 3 Neighborhood Association, Northampton Community Television and radio station WHMP.
