The backlash and bickering over the rainbow crosswalk seem rather petty now, after the Orlando massacre. Perhaps we can summon the energy to re-paint it and keep it as an everyday memorial, and visible evidence of Northampton’s tolerance of difference and resistance to bigoted prejudice.
