Well, the “Offended Generation” has struck once again.
First it was a handful of college students against Lord Jeffery Amherst trying to compare war in the middle of the 18th century to the 21st century. Just look back at what they had for communications, weapons and intelligence gathering compared to what we have now.
Not to mention that what they were complaining about, the intentional transmission of smallpox, never actually happened. Back then the military wasn’t expected to sneak up on the enemy and give them a big hug and say you are offending me so please stop.
Now tradition and history has to be changed so their feeling aren’t hurt.
After that protest we skipped right over the high school group and went directly to the middle school. Children still wet behind the ears opposed to marking Columbus Day are eroding more history because it offends them.
If it wasn’t for Columbus maybe they would still be living in a Third World country with no computers or cell phones, foraging in the garbage for their next meal.
What about the U.S. cavalry? How many Native Americans did it murder and put on reservations? Are you going to wipe that from the history books next?
Can you tell me why people in this new “Pffended Generation” feel that the world revolves around them and their feelings? Maybe it’s time for the teachers to start teaching history and what can be learned from it so it doesn’t get repeated, instead of trying to bury it and pretend things weren’t different centuries ago.
Stop using Native Americans as an excuse for your platform. By the way, if you trace my ancestors back on my maternal side for less than a handful of generations you will find that we were 100 percent Native Americans and this nonsense offends me.
Maybe it’s time for the silent majority that is sick of this nonsense to start speaking up. How about a gathering on the town common on Columbus Day?
