Dizzy the monkey continues to elude zookeepers, causing the Forest Park Zoo to announce Thursday it would remain closed that day.
“As of this morning, we have not had our eyes on Dizzy,” begins a post on the zoo’s Facebook page. “He was last seen yesterday in the canopies inside the zoo.”
Dizzy, a 12-pound Guenon monkey, escaped from his cage Tuesday while a staff member was cleaning and has not been able to be recaptured since.
Zoo officials said the zoo would reopen when Dizzy returns to his cage. The City of Springfield also will keep the playground outside the zoo closed as well to keep the noise level down and allow Dizzy to feel safe, zoo officials said.
Zoo officials ask that anyone who sees Dizzy call the Zoo at 413 733 2251.
