I listened with interest to the debate June 15 among candidates for the state representative seat in Amherst. However, I was disappointed that the issues of climate change and clean energy were largely absent from the discussion.
I appreciate Solomon Goldstein-Rose for taking the initiative to speak about the threat to Massachusetts from climate disruption and the potential benefits to our economy of creating clean energy technologies here in Amherst.
It seemed appropriate to me that Solomon, as the youngest candidate running, should speak most eloquently and passionately about this definitive issue of our times. Given that half the registered voters in the district are under age 30 and will bear the burden of our entrenched inaction, we ought to look carefully at this segment of our electorate to become the agents of change needed in our state legislature.
