August Jon Miller has graduated magna cum laude from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine with a degree in physics and a minor in Italian. He is the college’s first recipient of the E.O. LaCasce, Jr. Prize in Theoretical Physics. This fall he will attend the University of Illinois to pursue a doctoral degree in astrophysics. Miller is a 2012 graduate of Amherst Regional High School and is the son of Martin and Julie Miller.

Hannah McNehigt has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at The University of Albany, Albany, New York.
Emily Williams received a bachelor’s degree in athletic training, cum laude, from Westfield State University on May 21. She is a certified, licensed athletic trainer. Williams was selected as a member of the National Academic Squad for field hockey by the National Field Hokey Coaches Association.
Abigail Stowe-Thurston, the daughter of Lisa Stowe of Florence, and Michael Thurston of Leeds, has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Marissa Maiewski has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Simmons College in Boston. A 2015 graduate of Northampton High School, Maiewski played field hockey and lacrosse at Simmons. She is the daughter of Kathy Borawski and the late Joe Maiewski.

Kimberlyn Ann Semb, 11, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Massachusetts Pageant to be held July 21 to 23 at the Sheraton Hotel in Springfield. She will be participating in the pre-teen age division.
Kimberlyn’s activities include singing, dancing, acting, playing the clarinet, and downhill skiing. She also enjoys volunteering to raise money for the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. She lives in South Deerfield with her mom, Florence Howes and in Erving with her dad, Erik Semb.
Anna Francesca Ballou graduated with cum laude distinction from Deerfield Academy. She is the daughter of Alan and Lisa Ballou. Ballou was the recipient of the Charles Samuel Potee Memorial Award for Calculus. She will be attending Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley in the fall where she will be a member of the varsity field hockey team.

Dana J. Nevins graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law in Syracuse, New York, on May 13, with a degree of juris doctor. He was a member of the Justinian Honorary Society and the Syracuse Law Review. Nevins also received a master’s degree in public administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Nevins is the son of Buddy and Mikki Nevins.
