SOUTHAMPTON — The Board of Water Comissioners continues to encourage residents to participate in a voluntary water ban issued last June.
The town posted a notice on its Facebook page Friday, requesting water customers reduce their water use.
The ban, issued June 2, 2015, asks that residents abstain from outdoor automatic sprinkler use between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Southampton officials wrote that the outdoor water usage is restricted to an “odd-even schedule,” where odd-numbered houses may use outdoor water on odd days and even-numbered houses may do so on even days.
“We hope this will result in a reduction in water use. If not, we will have to consider implementation of mandatory water restrictions,” the post read.
