I would like to point out to your writers and readers that the present South Hadley Electric Light Department (SHELD) board is very different from the old board.
You do not differentiate enough between the two! I went to my first SHELD board meeting four or five years ago. It was held in a SHELD office around a table seating seven of eight.
The meeting was not publicized. I had to call and ask about it. No agendas were available to me. I was the only visitor. There were no TV cameras. There were three board members and the manager. That was the old board.
The new board has five members, meets in a room in the town hall with chairs for 30, has an agenda available before the meeting and is televised on South Hadley Cable TV.
The former manager, who you correctly criticized in your editorials, is gone. The supreme irony is that the old manager is using the Open Meeting Law against the new open board, especially so because the board was acting on the advice of the town administrator and a lawyer.
