Amherst scored eight runs on four hits in the top of the seventh, powering to a 10-5 win over South Hadley in Mickey Mantle action Thursday in South Hadley.

Amherst took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Levi Constant scored Brett Evans with an RBI double. That lead widened to 2-0 in the top of the sixth when Constant scored on an RBI triple by Luke Leonard.

South Hadley answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Jared Sudyka hit a three-run homer to left to give South Hadley a 3-2 lead.

Braden Fogarty singled, and Colin Lacombe hit an RBI double to deep left to extend the lead to 4-2.

In the top of the seventh, Jack Gagnon led off with a walk, and Owen Toal singled to put runners on first and second for Amherst.

Logan Dapprich’s RBI single scored pinch runner Quentin Moliterno.

Brett Evans walked to load the bases for Amherst.

J.B. Mills then walked, scoring Toal and tying the game 4-4.

Dapprich then scored on a wild pitch to give Amherst the lead.

Amherst scored another five runs on three hits as it led 10-4.

Leonard struck out five over 6 innings to earn the win.

Easthampton 6, Frontier 5 — Mitchell Carson hit a walk-off single to right field, scoring Jack O’Connell for Easthampton in the bottom of the seventh.

Max Daviau drove in Eamon Powers to tie the game at five.

O’Connell went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Daviau had two RBIs for Easthampton (6-5).

Northampton 16, Mohawk 0 (5) — Dillon Diemand had a double, a single and an RBI for Northampton in the mercy-rule win at home.

Northampton’s Aiden Chapdelaine, Nick Heafey and John Carey each scored two runs.

Sam Shelffo struck out three and walked one over four innings to earn the win. Shelffo also had a triple, a single and an RBI.

Little League

Belchertown 13, Longmeadow 0 (5) — Owen Raines went 2 for 3 with a three-run homer and five RBIs as Belchertown swept Longmeadow in the five-game series, advancing in the Intermediate District 2 Tournament.

Belchertown will await the winner of Auburn and Grafton in the sectional tournament.

Austin Endelos pitched four innings and struck out six, allowing just two hits and a walk. He went 2 for 3 at the plate.

Tyler Laramee led Belchertown with three hits.
