I wonder how many other residents of Northampton share my wish list for the city’s government.
That the bone-jarring, car-wrecking streets be repaved, that the street markings for crosswalks and traffic lanes be repainted when they fade, that the water lines, sewers, Department of Public Works garage and other infrastructure be maintained to avoid costly replacement, and so on.
Perhaps the City Council could consider improvements in city services after they deal with weightier questions such as trade with Asia, Columbus Day, and federal and state wage laws. Of course, that would require planning, funding, oversight and other such tedious matters.
