I write to wholeheartedly endorse Ryan O’Donnell as Northampton City Councilor at-large. I know Ryan as my ward councilor and from my years serving on the Planning Board and Housing Partnership.
I appreciate and value that Ryan is fully committed to affordable housing at all levels, including subsidized and workforce housing.
Ryan understands that a vibrant Northampton means diversity of all kinds, not the least of which is economic diversity.
Notably, he strongly supported the use of Community Preservation Act funds to build two affordable housing projects in downtown Northampton, projects that will bring subsidized housing to Northampton residents who desperately need it, and vitality to our downtown.
As my ward representative, Ryan has been responsive, hands-on and completely accessible.
And, as my 7-year-old notes, he is “nice, friendly and always chats with us when he sees us,” which really underscores what makes living in Northampton so special and unique.
The at-large position will allow Ryan to more fully focus on issues that affect the city as a whole, which will be enormously beneficial for all of our wards. Please join me in voting for Ryan O’Donnell in the preliminary election July 7 and in the general election on Aug. 4.
