The University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute has been awarded a $3 million grant to support teen pregnancy prevention efforts nationwide, Congressman James McGovern, D-Worcester, announced Thursday.
The five-year grant to the public service and economic development arm of the UMass presidentโs office will allow it to assist with the teen pregnancy efforts ofย community organization across the country, including supporting conferences, training, coaching, mentoring, peer-to-peer support and virtual learning.
According to Sharon Vardatira, director of nonprofit funding and fiscal solutions for the institute, the grant will help the โlong gameโ of community organizations.
The Hadley-based Donahue Instituteย is one of five recipients of the contract awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Adolescent Health.
