The Northampton Post 28 American Legion baseball team clinched the Western Massachusetts District 3 regular season title with a 9-8 win over Westfield Post 124 at Arcanum Field Tuersday in Florence.
The win was Northampton’s 11th straight, and the regular season title is its first since 2003.
Northampton (14-1) scored all nine runs in the fourth inning with a Pat Grygorcewic two-run double highlighting the barrage.
Joe Afflito had two hits and a RBI for Northampton,
Colby Lander picked up the win on the mound, coming on in relief of Zac Brittain.
Tim Horton added an RBI single for Northampton.
Belchertown 4, East Springfield 3 — Belchertown scored three runs in the second inning and held on against East Side.
Northampton 10, Hudson 4 — Northampton completed its perfect run through the State Cal Ripken Under 10 Tournament at Westminster.
Hamp advanced to the New England Regional Tournament in Uxbridge, beginning July 16.
Alexander Calianos got things started with a two-run home run over the fence in left field in the first inning.
Will Hogan had three hits, and scored three runs, while James Elliott added three hits and scored twice.
Northampton 9, Dalton 5 — Tristan Szawlowski had two single and a triple, scored twice and drove in a run, as Hamp won on the road.
Will Jordan added two hits and drove in two runs.
South Hadley 7, Mohawk 4 — Jarrett Sudyka had two hits and drove in a pair as South Hadley won on the road.
Easthampton 13, Amherst 1 – Easthampton scored nine runs in the fourth inning Tuesday to help the Eagles defeat Amherst in pool play of the 9-10-year-old. district tournament
Winter Roske pitched a complete game (four innings, seven strikeouts, one earned run) and also had four hits and an RBI.
Easthampton was powered by Gabe Growhoski and Luke Haynes, who each went 3 for 4 and had four RBI’s and three RBI’s, respectively.
Zak Thibodeau (three hits, one RBI, scored three times) and Gabe Rapoza (two hits, one RBI) also had big days for Easthampton (3-1).
Easthampton 13, Longmeadow 0 — Easthampton scored 11 times in the fourth inning and rolled to the win on the road in Little League 11-12 play.
Nick Lloyd had three hits, three runs and two RBIs for Easthampton, while Otis Follett had three hits, drove in two runs and scored one.
Justin Colpack (three innings, five strikeouts, one walk) and Connor Perrault (one innings, two strikeouts, one walk) combined to pitch a no-hitter in the mercy-rule shortened four-inning game.
Amherst 17, Agawam 2 (5) — In the District 2 11-12 Little League Tournament, Amherst unloaded on Agawam in five innings.
Anahu Youngblood blasted a three-run homer for Amherst.
Alex Irizarry led the offense, going 4 for 5 with a triple, two doubles and four runs scored.
Nate Mills (five RBIs) and Liam Coughlin (three RBIs) both had three hits. Mills doubled twice while Coughlin added two runs scored.
Evan Dooley and Ben Oates rounded out the offensive attack with two hits each.
Nate Mills picked up the win on the mound, striking six , giving up one hit and one run in relief of Max Edwards.
