NORTHAMPTON — A string of hot days is coming to Western Massachusetts that will push temperatures into the 90s, and could give way to thunderstorms later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service’s (NWS) office in Taunton, this week will be both hot and humid after a dry spell, which will result in much muggier weather.

NWS said they will determine whether or not to send out a heat or storm advisory the day before the extreme weather hits. The threshold for a heat advisory, they said, is 100 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, while the requirement for a thunderstorm advisory is wind speed at or above 58 miles per hour and hail one inch or larger.
