Ben Fitzpatrick tossed a one-hitter for Easthampton in an 8-0 win over Belchertown in Amherst on Wednesday.

Fitzpatrick struck out eight and picked off two runners to earn the win for Post 224.

“I was trying to get that outside fastball working, and I think it helped a lot,” Fitzpatrick said. “It was the infield that won the game. Infield and outfield.”

Jamie Ryan hit an RBI triple, and Steven Moussette had two hits and an RBI for Easthampton (5-9). Max Weir, Hunter Leveille and Austin Kuenzel each had a hit for Post 224.

Trevor Edwards had the only hit of the night for Belchertown (3-12).

“Their pitcher pitched great,” Belchertown coach Tom Kubacki said. “We usually hit the ball pretty well, but you’ve gotta tip your hat to (Fitzpatrick).”

Northampton 16, East Longmeadow 3 — Joe Pion and Beau Garbarini both connected for four hits each in a win for Northampton.

Northampton (14-1) pounded 19 hits, and the team’s winning streak now stands at 12.

Joe Afflito had two RBIs on walks, while Hunter Salemn added two hits.

Hector DeJesus picked up the win on the mound for Northamton.

Amherst 11, Easthampton 10 — Brett Evans hit a RBI single in the top of the sixth to give Amherst the win over Easthampton at Booster field.

Easthampton (6-8) held an 8-2 lead in the game before Amherst stormed back.

Jack O’Connell (two RBIs) and Max Daviau (one RBI) both had two hits for Easthampton.

Evans was on base three times for Amherst, drawing two walks. Logan Dapprich went 3 for 4 with a double and three runs scored for Amherst.

Luke Leonard picked up a two inning save, striking out one and giving up one hit.

Little League Softball

Easthampton 13, Westfield 2 – Jocelyn Mettey pitched a complete game for the U-10 Easthampton all-stars with 13 strikeouts and two hits allowed in Game 1 of the best-of-five championship series against Westfield.

Mettey went 2 for 3 with four RBIs at the plate. Both Abby McLaflin and McKenzie McCarthy had two RBIs and two hits each.

Makenna Slate (one RBI) had two hits, and Kayley Downie (one RBI) also added a hit.

Game two will be Friday at Nonotuck Park.
